Michal Krizanek is a rising Men's Open competitor who wants to better his position on sport's biggest stage. Krizo talked about his bodybuilding career in a YouTube video posted on September 25. He also aimed to be in the top eight at Mr. Olympia 2023 Live Stream, which will take place from November 2-5 in Orlando, Florida.
The 33-year old jumped right into the Amateur Olympia Italy 2022 and won gold. After gaining credibility, Krizo competed in the 2022 EVLS Czech Pro and also won.
In just a few short months, Krizo was a leading player in Men's Open. He had qualified for the Olympia during his busy rookie year. Samir Bannout, a former Mr. Olympia, was confident that he could win Mr. Olympia in his debut.
Krizo reached the Olympia stage, and finished 12th. Krizo was a big success, especially considering the high-quality lineup. The Slovakian star won the Empro Classic Pro 2023 in July. This gave him an opportunity to compete against the best of the world at Olympia. Krzio and his coach discussed the game plan to be successful as they focused on this marquee event.
Michal Krizo Talks 2023 Mr. Olympia Plans, Says He Beats Hunter Labrada "No Problem"
Krizo said that his condition was "very good", six weeks before his second Olympia. Krzio's final prediction was that he would secure a place in the top 8, adding that "he does not have big expectations."
Krizo shared, "Yes. I always believed in my abilities because I knew them." Yes, I pose every day for 30 minutes. "Yes, yes every day. Around 30 minutes." Alone. However, I am sending my coach videos. "I think my condition is very good now."
"Top eight. Top eight. The top eight. "I don't expect much."
Krizo is aiming to win Mr. Olympia, but he believes he will reach his prime in about four or five more years.
"Yes. "I think every bodybuilder dreams of winning Mr. Olympia. Perhaps, but I'm not sure. I'm not sure. My full potential I believe will come at 38, I'm thinking. "Yeah, I think four to five years."
The coach of Krizo said that this year, the team's primary focus has been on back development. This is the first year that Krizo used cardio to prioritise conditioning before a match.
The coach of Krizo explained, "Condition, you know Michal. This is the first year that Michal does cardio on a bicycle. For five years, he [hasn't] performed a minute of cardio." This is the first time he has done cardio in five years. It's different."
Krizo is confident he will be able to defeat Hunter Labrada at the 2023 Olympia "no problems" but was uncertain about his chances of beating Andrew Jacked.
"Hunter... no problem," laughs Krizo. It's difficult to tell. "But Jacked wasn't even on my radar."
Ronnie Coleman and Flex Wheeler are named as major bodybuilding inspirations by Krizo
Krizo said he began training when he was 15 and weighed "very little."
No [I'm not always this large]. When I was 15, I began training. When I started training, I was only 15 years old. As I began to train I grew, increasing my weight. When I completed secondary school I weighed 110 kilos, but I weighed 64 kilos when I first started. "In four years I gained around 40 kilograms but it was natural."
Krizo added, "I began competing at 27." After only a year as an amateur, I became an Elite Pro. I was awarded the Elite Pro Card. When I was 27, yes.
Early influences on his sport included bodybuilders from the '90s such as Ronnie Coleman and Flex Wheeler.
I read Muscle and Fitness. "I was inspired by '90s Bodybuilders like Ronnie Coleman and Flex Wheeler. Dennis Wolf, Kevin Levrone, and Dennis Wolf were my main inspirations."
The coach of Krizo said that the genetics of his student are very similar to Levrone.
Kevin Levrone has the same genes. Yes. "Yes," said Krizo coach. After technique it is all about the heart. The back requires more practice. It's a defect. It's back. This is back. "This is the number one training program."
Krizo also said that he enjoys training his arms the way Arnold Schwarzenegger did, but added that his current routine hasn't included strength exercises.
"I train like Arnold Schwarzenegger. "I train like Arnold Schwarzenegger. It is just that. In one hand, I lifted 40 kilograms... with one hand. But I'm not sure, I'm - I'm a - I'm not using the strength exercises to build triceps and biceps. But before, no problem."
It wasn't Krizo’s first check in ahead of Mr. Olympia. Open's star, Krizo, detailed in early September his training program, which included pyramid techniques. He believes that these are essential to the evolution of his body. Krizo, who looks more striated than in previous seasons, hopes that these efforts will pay off at the biggest stage of all.
The Men's Open will be stacked in the weeks to come at Mr. Olympia 2023. There have however been some changes made to the lineup. Mamdouh "Big Ramy" Elssbiay, the former Mr. Olympia and two-time winner, officially withdrawn his name over the weekend. He plans to return in the future, but with improved skills.
Hadi Choopan, the reigning Mr. Olympia, will defend his title against Derek Lunsford and Nick Walker. Brandon Curry, Samson Dauda, and Samson Dauda are also contenders. Michal Krizo is a dark-horse who will also be a threat.
