In recent weeks, Diego Sanchez has been released from the UFC, reported that the promotion could destroy him, and claimed that the UFC and Instagram are working together to restrict the influence of his 'coach,' Joshua Fabia. All of this began when Sanchez posted footage of Fabia, the self-proclaimed healer and owner of School of Self-Awareness Worldwide LLC, making an unusual and confrontational speech at a UFC media conference.
Footage of Fabia and Sanchez engaging in rare training drills has circulated since then. Sanchez is seen hanging upside down from the ceiling as Fabia slaps and punches him about the head.
Fabia has been chastised by numerous members of the MMA group as a result of the footage.d
Yesterday, Jon Jones, Sanchez's former long-time teammate, contributed his name to the chorus of worry for Sanchez. “I am beyond expression, very disgusted,” the longtime UFC light heavyweight champion tweeted. As someone who loves Diego, this is the last thing he needs.”
Jones' words on the topic, on the other hand, will not last long. 'Bones' quickly erased those sentiments after they were published.
Sanchez trained with Fabia in 2019 ahead of his UFC 235 victory over Mickey Gall. Fabia was Sanchez's only opponent in his next match, against Michael Chiesa at UFC 239.
Sanchez has formerly been a part of Jackson Winkeljohn MMA. Sanchez, along with Jones, was part of a generation of warriors who helped bring the gym on the world.
Sanchez's most recent UFC battle was a majority decision defeat to Jake Matthews at UFC 253 last September. His overall record still stands at 30-13 as a result of this defeat. He's 5-5 in his last ten games.
Sanchez debuted in the UFC in 2005, after winning the first season of The Ultimate Fighter. His 18 UFC victories are tied for seventh most all-time, and his seven Fight of the Night honors are tied for second most all-time.
Sanchez, along with his TUF 1 co-stars, was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2019.
